ILOILO – The provincial government released a total of P12 million to finance various community projects in six towns.
Of the financial assistance, P3 million was for the rehabilitation of Balabag-Buyo Provincial Road located in Pavia.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. turned over the cheque to Pavia’s Mayor Michael Gorriceta on Sept. 22.
He also approved the release of P2.5 million for the construction of a two-storey multipurpose hall in Barangay Poblacion, Banate.
The infrastructure will serve as evacuation center in times of calamity.
The capitol also gave P1.5 million to Dueñas for the repair of their multipurpose building in Barangay Poblacion.
Two weeks ago, Defensor also gave P2-million financial assistance to Mayor Rey Grabato of Mina for the concreting of the Mina National High School ground in Barangay Bangac.
A total of P1 million was also released for the purchase of lot intended for the expansion of Ajuy National High School in Ajuy.
Dr. Remus Valdeviezo, the school principal, and Elmo Del Castillo, the president of their faculty and staff association, received the cheque.
The remaining P2 million was for the construction of two-storey multipurpose building in Cabatuan.
Mayor Ronilo Caspe said the building will be used for trainings and conventions. During disaster, the building can also serve as evacuation center.
“We appropriated P7 million for the project but it wasn’t enough so we asked the assistance from the governor and he agreed,” Caspe said.
The donations released by the Office of the Governor were taken from the 20 percent Internal Revenue Allotment Development Fund of the provincial government and subsidy to LGUs. (Capitol News/PN)
