P13.6-M shabu haul big blow to traffickers

BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) is confident drug trafficking in the province would take a hit.

Two kilos of shabu worth P13.6 million were seized in San Carlos City early this week.

NOCPPO spokesperson Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco said they have strong suspicion that the two kilos of shabu they seized were from outside Western Visayas.

The provincial police would thus tighten the security around the port of San Carlos City and the provincial coastline.

NOCPPO will seek the help of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine National Police (PNP) Maritime Group, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Latest monitoring by NOCPPO also revealed that despite the P13.6-million shabu confiscated, there are currently no drug groups operating in San Carlos City, only individual drug traffickers.

On Tuesday, police arrested in a buy-bust  operation Rex Baron, a newly-identified drug suspect and resident of Fatima Village in San Carlos City’s Barangay Rizal.

The police poseur buyer initially seized a sachet of suspected shabu valued at P6,600.

A further search of the suspect and premises yielded a total of eight sachets of suspected shabu and two big plastic bags also of suspected shabu.

The seized items had a combined weight of two kilos./PN
