ILOILO City – Almost P153 million has been allocated for three road projects in Iloilo province.
The projects were funded under the Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
The Interior department transferred P152,986,764 to the provincial government on May 16.
The amount will cover the following:
* rehabilitation/improvement of Poblacion-Zarragoza Road, Balasan – P35,833,888
* rehabilitation/improvement of Jelicuon-Amiroy-Mina Road, New Lucena/Mina (two road sections) – P64,131,937
* concreting of San Antonio-Lambuyao, Abilay farm-to-market road of Oton –P53,020,939
The DILG regularly provides this fund to well-performing local governments, said Atty. Dennis Ventilacion, Provincial Legal Office head.
The Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces is formerly called the KALSADA (Konkreto at Ayos na Lansangan ang Daan tungo sa Pangkalahatang Kaunlaran) project, said Ventilacion.
“Kon maayo imo performance, daku ang imo funding,” he said.
But this time capitol will not provide a counterpart fund unlike in 2017 under the KALSADA project when it shelled out 10 percent of the budget, Ventilacion clarified.
Biddings for the three road projects may start by end of June or first week of July, said the lawyer./PN
