BACOLOD City – Only P16 million has been allotted for the drainage master plan.
Rep. Greg Gasataya had disclosed that P32 million was allocated for the master plan that is hoped to address perennial flooding.
But Engr. Abraham Villareal of the Department of Public Works and Highways’ Bacolod City District Engineering Office clarified yesterday that the amount was in fact for two cities: Bacolod and Balanga.
The bidding for the drainage master plan will be held at the DPWH central office on March 17, said Villareal.
The amount will cover consultancy work (with flood control experts) and preparation of feasibility reports, among others, the engineer said.
Aside from determining the project’s feasibility, the consultants will also calculate the cost of civil work, which may include connecting drainages on local roads to those on national roads, said Villareal./PN
