P185-M illegal drugs seized, 1,608 ‘pushers’ caught in 10 months

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) seized a total of P185 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 1,608 drug personalities in 10 months of anti-drug operations across Western Visayas.

There were 1,295 operations conducted from January to October this year which resulted to the arrest of 1,608 drug personalities and seizure of 27,221 grams of shabu and 2,854.52 grams of marijuana with a combined street value of P185.1 million, PRO-6 records showed.

Negros Occidental had the highest seizure amounting to P75 million worth of illegal drugs, followed by Bacolod City with P66.5 million and Iloilo City with 20.4 million.

Negros Occidental also arrested 700 drug personalities; Bacolod City, 478; and Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), 191.

PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, said this huge accomplishment was the result of the efforts of all station and unit commanders in running after drug peddlers.

“This is a team effort talaga together with other government agencies. Our campaign against illegal drugs will continue and we are targeting high-value target individuals,” Francisco said.

The region’s top cop added, “We have our partners from the Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency helping us man local seaports and airports to prevent the entry of illegal drugs.”/PN
