ILOILO City – Just before the Dinagyang Festival’s opening salvo on Friday, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) hauled millions worth of suspected shabu.
At 9 a.m. on Jan. 12, the Police Station 5-Station Drug Enforcement Team, with support from the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), effectively executed a search warrant against subject “Jim” in Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district.
The operation also yielded the confiscation of more or less 200 grams of the illegal substance with a standard drug price of P1,360,000.
The city police personnel acted on the authority granted by the search warrant signed by Hon. Ma. Yolanda M. Panaguiton-Gaviño.
Recoveries from the operation included 10 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and two knot-tied packages containing the suspected shabu.
Earlier on Thursday night, three high-value drug suspects known as “Bert,” “Jane,” and “Nonoy” were nabbed in Zone 7, Barangay Bitoon in Jaro district.
The successful operation conducted by ICPO’s CDEU, in collaboration with Police Stations 3 and 4, and the Iloilo City Mobile Force Company, resulted in the confiscation of suspected shabu valued at P816,000.
Two body-worn cameras were employed during the operation to ensure transparency and accountability.
Police Brigadier General Sidney N. Villaflor, the region’s top cop, commended the successful operations.
“These operations underscore our steadfast commitment to eliminating illegal drugs in our region. We assure the public that we will continue to work tirelessly to maintain the safety and well-being of our communities,” Villaflor added./PN
