P2.4-M marijuana plants uprooted in San Carlos City

BACOLOD City – Police uprooted approximately P2.4 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants in a plantation site in Barangay Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

Officers of the San Carlos Component City Police Station and supporting units also arrested aliases “Jo” and “Lito,” who were caught in the act cultivating the said plants, on May 14.

Around 20 kilos of marijuana plants were seized along with caliber .45 magazine, three caliber .45 live ammunition, and non-drug items.

Also confiscated from Lito was a caliber .45 pistol.

The suspects were taken into custody by the San Carlos Component City Police Station.

They are facing charges for violations of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591, which pertains to the regulation of firearms and ammunition.

Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), lauded the personnel of the San Carlos Component City Police Station and supporting units.

“Keep up the good work. This was the product of your hard work. Continue the intensity

of our campaign against illegal drugs,” Wanky added./PN
