ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor requested the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for almost P200 million to repair two damaged bridges in Miag-ao town.
Oyungan Bridge in Barangay Oyungan and Naclub Bailey Bridge along the Bacauan-Naclub Provincial Road were both damaged by Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng” on Oct. 29.
In a letter to DPWH secretary Manuel Bonoan, the governor requested for:
* replacement of permanent weak bridges – Oyungan Bridge in Barangay Oyungan Miag-ao, Iloilo (construction of three spans [35-35-30] Prestressed Girder Type V Bridge, with a total length of 100 on bored pile foundations (including slope protection work) — estimated cost of repair P120,000,000
* repair of damaged Naclub Bailey Bridge along Bacauan-Naclub Provincial Road, Miag-ao, Iloilo (proposed conversion into 30. l.m 2 lane, RCDG, including slope protection work at both approaches) — estimated cost of repair P70,000,000
DPWH recently provided the provincial government with a budget for the repair of three bridges worth P168,300,000.
These were the Dingle Bridge in Dingle town and the Alimono and Agtambo bridges in Passi City, all of which were damaged by Tropical Storm “Agaton”.
Currently, the repair of the three bridges is ongoing./PN
