ILOILO City – Shabu worth P245,000 was seized from three drug trafficking suspects in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro.
The shabu was wrapped in six big plastic sachets, according to Police Captain March Dado, chief of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU).
The buy-bust operation was carried out at around 8 p.m. on Monday. The following suspects, all residents of Bacolod City, were taken to the Jaro police station: William Macapal, 59; Ricky Cornello, 50; and Eduardo Salimbot, 52.
An undercover police officer initially bought from them five grams of shabu for P35,000.
The six big sachets were recovered from Macapal’s bag, said Dado.
“It took us weeks of negotiation before the suspects finally agreed to the deal. They were wary of people they were not familiar with. An asset helped us,” said Dado.
Citing intelligence information, Dado said the three suspects belonged to a Bacolod City-based group; they were “down lines” of slain high-value target drug suspect Leoner Jalandoon, he said.
The alleged leader of the Jalandoon drug group operating in Negros Island was shot dead in a police operation in Victorias City, Negros Occidental on April 28, said Dado./PN
