NEGROS Occidental – Traveling is now faster and easier for residents of Barangay Camangcamang, Isabela town following the inauguration of the newly constructed bridge in the village.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Isabela mayor Irene Montilla recently led the inauguration of the P25-million Bugalo/Guintubhan Bridge.

Originally just an “overflow bridge”, construction started in April of this year to make it a permanent concrete bridge structure.

An “overflow bridge” is actually not a bridge; it is a walkway built on a shallow part of a river or stream that people can walk on to cross to the other side.

The bridge’s construction was facilitated by the Provincial Engineer’s Office led by Engineer Ernie Mapa.

Lacson said he is happy to know that Barangay Camangcamang is a booming barangay in terms of economic activities and local development.

“Let’s continue to work together, to be God’s instruments, to improve the lives of the communities in Isabela,” he said, adding that that there are also road projects for the local government unit.

For his part, barangay captain Renato Nicolas of Camangcamang and other local officials thanked the provincial government for the bridge project that made transportation easy for the community and promote their safety as well./PN
