ANTIQUE – The provincial government released P3-million financial assistance to 691 elderly, indigents and 12 households.

The assistance was released during the People’s Day celebration on Oct. 10 to 11 at the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) compound in San Jose de Buenavista town.

Each of the 12 households that were relocated last year for occupying a lot owned by Odiong Elementary School in Barangay Odiong, Sibalom, received P10,000 financial aid, according to Antique Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Supervising Administrative Officer Noemi Tagle.

Last year, the same relocated families were also given P10,000 per household as assistance for their transfer.

Meanwhile, 691 beneficiaries, including 150 seniors aged 85 to 95 years old, received assistance in the form of cash for their subsistence.

The provincial government has a program that assists the elderly, 85 years old and older and with no income to help them meet their needs. The aid varies depending on their age range.

“The people were very happy and appreciative to receive their assistance from the provincial government,” said Tagle.

Meanwhile, the 541 other indigents requested financial assistance from the PSWDO for medical or burial needs. (PNA)/PN
