ILOILO – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) confiscated 4,604 grams of illegal drugs worth about P30,504,000 in its 22 days of police operations across the region.
Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO-6 director, announced yesterday that the intensified campaign against illegal substances from June 1 to 22 this year yielded substantial results.
Wanky said of the seized illegal drugs, 4,484 grams were shabu approximately valued at P30.49 million while 120 grams, with an estimated value of P14,000, were marijuana.
The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 recorded the highest value of illegal drug confiscation at P9 million.
The region’s top cop added that the 176 police operations resulted to the arrest of 237 drug suspects, with the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office recording the highest number of arrests at 97.
The suspects were under police custody, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
