KALIBO, Aklan – A high value target (HVI) in possession of P340,000 worth of suspected shabu was apprehended in Kalibo town in a buy-bust operation carried out by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) on Thursday, June 20.
The crackdown on illegal drugs resulted to the arrest of 60-year old Hedy “Dodong” Mamay, a resident of the town’s Barangay Tigayon at around 6:30 p.m.
Mamay allegedly sold a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white substance or locally known as shabu to a police poseur buyer for P50,000.
RPDEU chief Captain Glenn Soliman said the operatives also seized six more plastic sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia and the suspect’s mobile phone during the body search.
“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa buong puwersa ng Kalibo police station sa pamumuno ni Lieutenant Colonel Ricky Bontogon para mabuo ang buy-bust operation natin. Ang nadakip na suspek ay nagtatrabaho sa ticketing outlet sa isang bus station,” Soliman added.
Police said Mamay was earlier released via the plea bargaining agreement after his involvement in illegal drug trade.
“Mga almost one month na operasyon ito, nag-deploy tayo ng operatiba upang makipagtransakyon sa suspek. May nahuli tayo sa Iloilo na konduktor, mga limang buwan na ang nakalipas, at nalaman natin na si Dodong ang tumatanggap ng druga dito sa Kalibo mula Manila,” Soliman said.
He added: “Sa bahay mismo ni Dodong nag-buy-bust tayo sa kanya, pinapunta niya dito ang poseur buyer. Kalimitan mga kaibigan ng suspek ang bumibili at gumagamit. Ginagawa siyang daanan at siya ang nag-distribute ng mga druga.”
The suspect was detained at the Kalibo police station. He is facing charges for violations of Section 5 (illegal sale of dangerous drugs), Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Section 12 (possession of equipment, instrument, apparatus and other paraphernalia for dangerous drugs), and Section 15 (use of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs of 2002./PN
