P4.8-M shabu seized, 35 nabbed in 48-hour anti-drug campaign

ILOILO City – A 48-hour anti-drug operation by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) led to the confiscation of approximately P4.8 million worth of shabu and the arrest of 35 individuals across Western Visayas.

From March 14 to March 16, the crackdown, which included 26 separate buy-bust operations, resulted in the seizure of around 705 grams of illegal drugs. Five high-value targets were arrested, while 30 others were identified as street-level suspects.

The largest drug haul came from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, which confiscated P2.43 million worth of shabu. The Bacolod City Police Office followed with P1.31 million, while the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) seized P694,000 worth of the illegal substance.

NOCPPO recorded the highest number of arrests, apprehending 19 of the 35 individuals taken into custody.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky commended the efforts of the regional police force, highlighting their dedication and ongoing collaboration with stakeholders to combat illegal drug activities.

“The results of this operation reflect the unwavering commitment of our police officers,” Wanky said. “We will continue to ensure accountability for those involved in the illegal drug trade.”
