ILOILO City – Mayor Jose Espinosa has poured hundreds of millions of pesos worth of infrastructure projects to various barangays in the metropolis for the convenience of his constituents.
The projects improved the people’s living conditions particularly the poor through better health, public safety and easy access to services.
These include the construction and rehabilitation of public alleys, roads, health centers, multipurpose halls, drainage systems, and streetlights funded by the 20 percent Development Fund since 2017.
“We want to reach out to the barangays by bringing programs, projects and services closer to them. We want the people to feel the progress being experienced by the city. The taxes paid by the people and big businesses, and good governance should go down to the grassroots level,” Espinosa stressed.
Espinosa’s administration has implemented a total of P419.8-million projects in seven districts: Jaro with P123 million; Molo with P59.6 million; Mandurriao with P57.8 million; Arevalo with P56.7 million; City Proper with P47.3 million; La Paz with P42.8 million; and Lapuz with P32.6 million.
In Arevalo District, the projects are in barangays So-oc under Punong Barangay Ricardo Tugado with P15.9 million; Yulo Drive under Punong Barangay Geraldine Tumbocon with P5.5 million; Sta. Cruz under Punong Barangay Felix Octavio with P3.5 million; Sto. Niño Sur under Punong Barangay Cesar Espinosa with P3.2 million; Bonifacio under Punong Barangay Alan Macazar with P3 million; San Jose under Punong Barangay Alexander Abangan with P2.5 million; Sto. Domingo under Punong Barangay Carolyn Selorio with P1.9 million; and Sto. Niño Norte under Punong Barangay Melvin Minerva with P1.1 million.
In the City Proper, the projects are in barangays San Agustin under Punong Barangay Ma. Rosario Sabando with P9.5 million; Bonifacio Tanza under Punong Barangay Willy Jamolo with P5.5 million; Veterans Village under Punong Barangay John Eric David with P4.3 million; Tanza Bay-Bay under Punong Barangay Dominador Deocampo P4 million; Concepcion under Punong Barangay Madonna Martin with P3.6 million; Rizal Estanzuela under Punong Barangay Hector Obligacion with P3 million; General Hughes under Punong Barangay Ma. Theresa Uy with P2.6 million; Ortiz under Punong Barangay Evangeline Granada with P2.3 million; P1.5 million each for Rizal Pala Pala II under Punong Barangay Noel Soliman Jr. and Liberation under Punong Barangay Neil Parcon; Maria Clara under Punong Barangay Rizalino Salazar with P1.4 million; and Zamora Melliza under Punong Barangay Peter Abadiano with P1 million.

Cheche Narandan with P2.5 million; Railway under Punong Barangay Reynaldo Guillergan with P2.3 million; Magsaysay Village under Punong Barangay Gina Barrientos with P2.2 million; P2.1 million each for Baldoza under Punong Barangay Jonathan Javellana and Burgos-Mabini under Punong Barangay Lilibeth Eduardo; Laguda under Punong Barangay Dale Francis Jalandoni with P1.6 million; Divinagracia under Punong Barangay Rex Teves with P1.5 million; Banuyao under Punong Barangay Ruby Ann Geanga with P1.1 million; and Jereos under Punong Barangay with Rodolfo Jungco P1 million.
In Lapuz District, the projects are in barangays Bo. Obrero under Punong Barangay Ricardo Diño, Jr. with P6.1 million; Sinikway under Punong Barangay Darme Grace Ventura with P6 million; Loboc under Punong Barangay Carlos Javellano with P 4.8 million; and Alalasan under Punong Barangay Maricon Sumpio with P1.5 million.
In Mandurriao district, the projects are in barangays Navais under Punong Barangay JJ Janneigh Mercado with P11.2 million; Bakhaw under Punong Barangay Joel Alvarado with P7.4 million; Hibao-an Sur under Punong Barangay Rodlen Gallenero with P6 million; Guzman Jesena under Punong Barangay Roseller Paredes with P5 million; Calajunan under Punong Barangay Efrain Tagaytayan with P3.8 million; Pali Benedicto under Punong Barangay Alan Juarez with P3.1 million; PHHC Blk. 22 under Punong Barangay Robert Richard Dolar with P2 million; PHHC Blk. 17 under Punong Barangay Sergio Causing with P1.3 million; and Airport under Punong Barangay Josie Benjie Macailing with P1 million.
