BACOLOD City – Suspected shabu worth some P408,000 was recovered from a physician and his driver on the Circumferential Road in Barangay Taculing, a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) spot report showed.
Dr. Solomon Tan and driver Romanito Lee were arrested in a buy-bust operation that PDEA agents staged on Sunday.
Tan and Lee, detained at the Police Station 8 lockup facility, were facing charges for violation of sections 5, 11 and 12 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEA-Bacolod head Grace Cruz said Tan – being in their “target list” – had been under surveillance.
Cruz added that Tan is the personal doctor of slain drug lord Ramy Poja.
Tan and Lee sold suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer for P22,000, the PDEA report stated.
The suspected illegal drugs recovered weighed 60 grams and were contained in 11 plastic sachets.
Drug paraphernalia were also recovered from Tan and Lee, PDEA added./PN
