P476K ‘shabu’ seized in Barotac Viejo

ILOILO – Nearly half a million pesos worth of suspected shabu was recovered from a 42-year-old man in Barangay San Francisco, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, at around 5:55 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Suspect Reuben “Smokey” Baylon, unemployed, was a native of Barangay Sta. Cruz, Arevalo, Iloilo City.

He sold suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer for P16,000.

A total of 14 plastic sachets of suspected shabu were recovered, weighing more or less 70 grams, with a total standard drug price of P476,000.

The operation was conducted by the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) of Barotac Viejo Municipal Police Station (MPS), led by officer-in-charge Police Major Ciriaco Esquilarga, the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU 6) led by Police Captain Glenn Soliman, and in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 6.

Esquilarga said the police have been monitoring Baylon.

Also recovered were one digital weighing scale, an improvised glass tooter, a 1,000 bill, one sling bag, two Android cellular phones, and one black Euro motorcycle.

The suspect is being detained by the Barotac Viejo MPS and is facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
