ILOILO — A high-value individual (HVI) and a street-level individual (SLI) were arrested after police seized about 70 grams of suspected shabu worth an estimated P476,000 during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Anjawan, Dueñas, Iloilo, at about 4:17 p.m. on August 8, 2026.
Police identified the suspects as alias “Garry,” 52, married, a laborer and resident of Dueñas, identified as the HVI; and alias “Che,” 46, single and a resident of Mandaue City, Cebu, identified as the SLI.
The operation was conducted by the Dueñas Municipal Police Station-Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET), in coordination with Iloilo Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit Team 2, following intelligence validation, surveillance and target profiling.
Police said the suspects were arrested after allegedly selling a heat-sealed transparent sachet containing suspected shabu to an undercover police operative.
Five sachets containing suspected shabu, buy-bust money and other non-drug items were recovered from the suspects.
The arrested individuals are being held at the Dueñas Municipal Police Station for documentation and disposition. They are expected to face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PRO6 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Randulf T. Tuaño commended the operating units for the successful operation, which he said resulted from intensive intelligence work and close coordination.
Tuaño said the arrest of an HVI and an SLI, along with the seizure of a significant amount of suspected shabu, would help disrupt the illegal distribution of drugs in communities.
He said PRO6 would continue intelligence-driven law enforcement operations to identify and arrest individuals involved in the illegal drug trade./PN
