SUPPORT BEGETS RESULTS

Mayor Jerry Treñas commended the ICPO. The buy-bust operation in Jaro district showed its zeal in the fight against illegal drugs, he said.

Treñas vowed to continue supporting the city police.

“We do this for the sake of the Ilonggos and our children. Congratulations, Police Colonel Jong Coronica and the personnel of the ICPO,” he said.

The city government since 2019 had poured P413,076,700 worth of assistance to the ICPO.

“A good peace and order situation will encourage more investments in the city because everyone feel safe,” said Treñas.

The city government was able to extend P54.1 million in assistance to the city police in 2019; P43.4 million in 2020; P59.4 million in 2021; P216.3 million in 2022; and P33.8 million in 2023, data from City Budget Office showed.

The support ranged from motor vehicles (police patrol cars); motorcycles; bicycles; firearms and ammunition; office supplies; trainings, seminars and travel expenses; allowances for police personnel; fuel, oil and lubricants; procurement of office equipment and furniture; repair and maintenance of transportation equipment; and rehabilitation or construction of police stations, among others.

“This is a priority. A safe city means more investments, which in turn means more jobs for our constituents,” stressed Treñas. (With a report from Glenda Tayona)/PN
