ILOILO City – A P500,000 bounty has been offered for the arrest of the two gunmen in the killing of the municipal administrator of Pilar, Capiz.
For the fast resolution of the case, friends, relatives and the family of John Heredia – resident of Barangay Tiza, Roxas City – are offering reward to whoever could give information leading to the identification and arrest of the assassins, according to Roxas City police chief, Police Lieutenant Colonel Ricardo Jomuad Jr.
Heredia, 54, had just come out from a hardware store in Barangay Lawa-an, Roxas City when he was repeatedly shot around 2:20 p.m. on May 2.
The gunman then boarded a motorcycle driven by another waiting a few meters away from the crime scene.
The two were wearing masks and gray hoodie jackets.
NO CLUE
According to Jomuad, they are still facing a blank wall.
“We tried to enhance the CCTV (closed circuit television) footage which recorded the men fleeing, but their faces were fully covered and the motorcycle had no plate number,” Jomuad added.
Heredia, a long-time journalist in Capiz before he was appointed administrator of Pilar town, died of gunshot wound on the neck, forehead, back, right shoulder, chest, ribs, right forearm, genital organ, and left thigh.
Capiz governor Esteban Evan Contreras denounced the murder.
“Vicious acts of violence have no place in a civilized society where people have the right to live their lives free from the threat of violence,” said Contreras in a statement.
In September 2019, Heredia’s wife Criselda, a human rights lawyer, survived an ambush after attending a court hearing./PN
