BACOLOD City – Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez offered a P50,000 reward for the information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects in Nicus Balagosa murder case.
“This reward is part of the city government’s ongoing efforts to ensure swift justice for the heinous crime that shocked the community,” the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) said yesterday.
It added: “Those with information are urged to contact the nearest police station or the BCPO directly. Rest assured all information shared will be treated with utmost confidentiality.”
To recall, the 20-year-old Balagosa was allegedly shot by two gunmen including the father of the alleged rape victim in front of his parents in their house in Barangay Granada here last June 2.
The victim sustained four gunshot wounds and was declared dead in a hospital.
Police recovered from the crime scene three fired cartridge cases of a caliber .45 firearm and two deformed slugs.
Balagosa was mistakenly tagged as one of those who allegedly raped the 16-year-old daughter of one of the gunmen, the BCPO report added.
The BCPO further said that arrest warrant had been issued against the two suspects – Carlito “Dondon” Tongo and Jonathan “Athan” Tongo – who are still at large.
Colonel Joeresty Coronica, BCPO director, assured the public that all efforts are being exerted to bring the perpetrators to justice./PN
