KALIBO, Aklan – A P52-million municipal hall will rise in the hinterland town of Libacao, Aklan.
The fund for the construction of the “new and bigger” hall was sourced from the Municipio Fund of the Department of Finance (DOF).
Mayor Charito Navarosa said the construction of the hall is aimed at rendering efficient and better services among residents.
It is also seen to attract economic growth in the municipality.
Last month, Executive Director Helena Habulan of the Finance department’s Municipal Development Office approved the budget for the construction of the two-storey building.
The hall will be built in Barangay Poblacion. The project is up for bidding this year.
The DOF started financing constructions of town halls through the Muncipio Fund since May 2015.
The agency has earmarked P1.5 billion to finance development projects of 1st- to 6th-class local government units in the country.
As of June 7, the DOF still has P894 million unallocated balance for the initiative.
Libacao, a third class municipality, is also proposing to have infrastructure projects amounting to P277,556,000 under the Local Government Support Fund-Financial Assistance to LGUs.
The fund will be used to build a P200-million Barangays Poblacion-Magugba bridge across Aklan River and the river revetment wall in Barangay Magugba worth P77.556-million. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
