P70-M town hall to rise in Janiuay

ILOILO – A new three-story municipal hall will soon rise in Janiuay town.

On Friday, March 24, the groundbreaking and first concrete pouring for the new municipal building was held.

Cong. Lorenz Defensor of the 3rd District allotted P70 million for the construction of the new town building.

USWAG Ilonggo party-list’s Rep. James “Jojo” Ang also contributed for the realization of the project.

Cong. Defensor and Ang, together with former governor Arthur Defensor Sr., 3rd District Board Member Matt Palabrica, Janiuay Mayor Paul Parian and other local officials of Janiauy, graced the activity.

Cong. Defensor said a new municipal hall is needed for Janiuaynons to experience more efficient service delivery.

“It will be a green building nga masanag kag mabugnaw. Tagaan naton sang tsansa nga makatilaw ang Janiuay sang manami nga puloy-an para sa ila pagserbisyo,” said Cong. Defensor.

The congressman also assured the completion of the municipal hall through the help extended by Sen. Loren Legarda and Sen. Sonny Angara.

The construction, under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), is estimated to take around five months.

Meanwhile, the existing municipal hall and the multi-purpose building will also undergo upgrades.

Ang said the new municipal hall is just an “appetizer” for more projects to come. He also mentioned the possibility of a new public market in the municipality.

Parian expressed his gratitude to Defensor and Ang for making Janiuaynons’ long-standing wish to have a new municipal hall come true.

“Bugal namon kag nagapasalamat gid kami nga makabaton kami kadya nga proyekto,” said Parian./PN
