KALIBO, Aklan – The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), through its Bids and Awards Committee, has awarded the P743-million contract to the winning bidder to construct a cruise ship port in Buruanga town.

The dedicated port for cruise tourism in Barangay Alegria, Buruanga will provide more convenient and safer transportation experience for tourists and accommodate bigger ships in the near future.

PPA said the Alegria cruise ship port construction will be completed in 900 calendar days from the receipt of Notice to Proceed by the contractor.

International Builders Corp. (IBC) secured the contract after submitting the lowest bid of P743,977,945.89 among 11 qualified bidders and after passing the post qualification evaluation of PPA.

PPA general manager Jay Daniel Santiago has directed IBC to enter a contract with PPA and post the required performance security within 10 days from the receipt of the notice of award.

The notice of award was issued on June 20 and received by the company on June 27.

Other companies that submitted bid proposals were Marra Builders, Inc., F. Gurrea Construction, Inc., Sunwest Inc., WTG Construction and Development Corp., Octagon Concrete Solution, Inc., Khan Kon Chi Construction and Development Corp., Vicente T. Lao Construction, Goldridge Construction and Development Corp., MAC Builders Corp., and UKC Builders, Inc./PN
