P800K ‘shabu’ seized in Dumangas

ILOILO – Suspected shabu worth P884,000 was seized in a drug buy-bust operation in Purok 6, Sitio Pantalan, Barangay Dacutan, Dumangas  town around 10:45 p.m. on Monday.

The 49-year-old Kelly Castro, a resident of Barangay Quintin Salas, Jaro district, was also arrested by joint operatives of the Drug Enforcement Group, Special Operation Unit 6 under the supervision of Police Brigadier General Narciso Domingo, and the Dumangas Municipal Police Station’s (MPS) Station Drug Enforcement Team led by Police Maj. Kenn Albert Lepsia.

Police seized six sachets and two knot-tied transparent plastic containing suspected shabu weighing around 130 grams and P20,500 in buy-bust money.

Dumangas police had been monitoring Castro for months.

According to the police, the suspect was also arrested in 2019 for a drug-related case but was released from jail through a plea bargaining agreement.

Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director, Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, commended the operating team for a job well done and assured the public that the police, together with the other law enforcement agencies, will eradicate illegal drugs in Western Visayas.
