ILOILO City – Suspected shabu valued at P9.6 million was seized in Bacolod City late Friday night.
Operatives of the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) arrested drug suspects Sidney Hulleza, 46, and Betty Bongay, 32, in a buy-bust operation around 11:30 p.m. on Aries Street, JR Torres Subdivision, Barangay Singcang Airport.
The suspects initially sold a sachet of shabu for P35,000 to an undercover police officer.
After the suspects’ arrest, the police recovered from them 275 more big sachets of suspect shabu weighing 1.380 kilos. The estimated market value was P9,660,000.
The suspects were taken to the Bacolod City Police Office’s Police Station 8.
They face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Hulleza, who used to work as a driver in Saudi Arabia, said in a radio interview that the seized sachets of suspected shabu were left by a friend for safekeeping, adding that he doesn’t sell shabu./PN
