BACOLOD City – The father of the pregnant woman who died in January at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) is urging the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) National Office to help him expedite the medi-colegal results of his child.

Jose Cesar Penario filed a complaint to NBI-Bacolod against the management of the hospital for alleged negligence.

Penario said that on Jan. 17, 2017, his daughter, Mary Joy Geronca, was having an emergency labor with twins inside her womb.

“She’s asking for help for she cannot anymore tolerate the pain … the twins are ready to come out from the womb of their mother. But a certain nurse (who Penario cannot identify) told her (victim) that she will wait for her turn,” the complaint letter said.

“The security guard asked the husband to go out of the emergency room while Geronca was alone and no one was assisting her,” it added.

CLMMRH chief Dr. Julius Drilon denied the allegations, saying they have not done any negligence on their part.

He added that the hospital has done everything to save the lives of the mother and the twins.

In February, NBI-Bacolod has summoned the hospital about the complaint. Part of the investigation was the exhumation of the cadaver of the victim.

Penario said he recently asked the assistance of Task Force Crusaders. According to him, NBI-Bacolod has not yet filed proper charges against several personnel of the hospital because the medico-legal results were not yet released.

“[It has been] more than two months already. I am waiting for the result,” Penario said.

Penario also stressed that he has no intention to engage in any settlement negotiations with the hospital./PN
