Pa, son yield ‘shabu,’ improvised firearm

BACOLOD City – A father and his son was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay 12, Victorias City, Negros Occidental. 

Police Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Corpuz, Victorias City police chief, identified them as 61-year-old Wilfredo and 36-year-old Joemer De la Cruz – both residents of Hacienda Romana in Barangay 12.

According to Corpuz, the suspects were caught after sold suspected shabu to a police asset for P400 around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 1.

When frisked, the suspects yielded seven more sachets of suspected illegal drugs, a digital weighing scale, P200 cash, a cell phone, an improvised pistol loaded with 12 live cartridges, two spare cartridges and drug paraphernalia.

The De la Cruz were taken and detained in lockup cell of the Victorias City police station, facing charges

for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
