ILOILO – Antique governor Rhodora “Dodod” Cadiao, through an executive order (EO), suspended classes in all levels, both private and public schools, in the entire province effective Nov. 2.

Classes will resume on Monday, Nov. 7.

The declaration was upon the recommendation of Antique Schools Division Superintendent Feliza B. Beriong and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Broderick G. Train.

Cadiao cited in her EO that some schools were used as temporary evacuation sites for families affected by Tropical Storm “Paeng”.

Antique was hit hard by the typhoon over the weekend. Five hundred barangays were affected.

“To promote the safety of all Antiqueños, and to give them enough time to recover from the weather disturbance, there is a need to suspend classes in all levels, both in public and private schools in the province of Antique,” read part of the EO.

Meanwhile, Cadiao stressed that agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness for and response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services./PN
