ILOILO City – Close to 3,000 residents were served by the city government’s “Pag-ulikid sang Syudad, Pag-ulikid ni Mayor” program conducted in barangays Sinikway and Libertad in Lapuz district.
Residents of nearby villages such as Alalasan, Don Esteban, Loboc, Progreso, Rizal, and Jalandoni Estate also availed themselves on June 30 the following for free:
* dental and medical services
* circumcision
* identification cards for senior citizens
* dog vaccination
* City Civil Registry Office assistance to those with issues with their birth certificates, marriage contracts, etc.
“As father and mayor of this city, my primary concern is our people. They are the city government’s priority,” said Espinosa.
“Pag-ulikid” brings the city government’s frontline programs, projects and services closer to the villages. It also includes free legal consultation and distribution of sports equipment and wheelchairs and canes to senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Espinosa said “Pag-ulikid” will cover all the 180 barangays of the city.
“No matter how progressive the city’s economy is, it is still useless if people cannot feel it. This program brings city government services directly to its people,” said Espinosa.
City Administrator Hernando Galvez and department heads themselves facilitate “Pag-ulikid.” According to Galvez, it also addresses drainage and public market problems and is a venue where people can personally express their concerns to city officials./PN
