Pagara KOs Ghanian foe in 1 round, keeps WBO belt

MANILA – Prince Albert Pagara retained the WBO Inter-Continental super bantamweight belt after a first round stoppage win over Ghanian George Krampah in Pinoy Pride 45 held at the IEC Convention Center in Cebu City.

It was the first successful defense of the Maasin City, Southern Leyte native to the championship he won at the expense of Laryea Gabriel Odoi of Ghana on June 2018.

Unlike in his previous match, Pagara was more tactical with his attack early in the round before landing well-placed bombs that had Krampah wobble at the middle part of the first round.

With just a few seconds remaining in the game, Pagara unloaded vicious body shots on Krampah before landing a huge uppercut that sent the Ghanian boxer to the canvas for good.

Pagara improved his record to 31 wins and one loss with 22 knockouts as he tallied his fifth straight victory.

Krampah, meanwhile, saw his record dropped to 14-4-0.

Jeo Santisima, on the other hand, was successful in keeping his WBO Oriental super bantamweight belt after a unanimous decision win (117-111, 117-111, 118-110) over Mexican Victor Lopez.

In the other co-main event bout, KJ Cataraja captured the vacant WBO Youth super flyweight belt with a unanimous decision win over Mexican Victor Reyes. The Cebuano also kept his unbeaten slate of 9-0-0.

In the undercard, Bago City, Negros Occidental native Arthur Villanueva settled for a majority draw with Carlo Demecillo, while Sipalay City native Mark Torella was knocked down in his debut match against Regie Suganob./PN
