MANILA – Malacañang on Sunday denied reports that President Rodrigo Duterte was hospitalized at Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City due to a medical condition.
Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said there was no truth to the reports since Duterte was in the Palace signing papers.
“The President is in his residence at the Palace signing papers. I just talked to him, he is neither confirming nor denying that he went to the hospital,” Panelo said.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and Presidential security group spokesperson Captain Zeerah Blanche Lucrecia belied the rumors about the President.
“Not true,” Medialdea said. “He should probably be in his quarters and resting.”
“I hope you understand that due to security protocols, we cannot divulge the President’s location. However, we can assure you, that the President is well and good,” Lucrecia said.
Former special assistant to the President and incoming senator Christopher “Bong” Go said he will release a photo of Duterte resting to kill rumors about his hospitalization.
The President was out of the public eye since casting his vote for the 2019 midterm elections last week in Davao City fueling speculations that he suffered a cardiac arrest. /PN
