MANILA – Malacañang on Monday denied being behind fresh allegations hurled by former senator Antonio Trillanes against former president Rodrigo Duterte.

According to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, the former Chief Executive might be hallucinating in thinking that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is the one behind the attacks against him.

“Alam nyo mahirap pumatol sa ganyan. Hallucination na lang ‘yan,” Bersamin said in an interview at the Malacañang Palace.

Former President Duterte lambasted President Marcos Jr.’s administration and Trillanes in a livestreamed interview with his former spokesman Salvador Panelo over the weekend.

“Itong si Trillanes talagang Malacañang-sponsored yan. Hindi gagalaw yan ng ganoon, walang pera yan,” Duterte said.

“Nagtataka ako bakit ang Malacañang ginagawa. Wala naman kaming kasalanan sa kanila. Hindi naman ako nag-aatake kay Presidente. Pero alam ko si Trillanes nagtatrabaho kay President Marcos,” he added.

During a House of Representatives’ quad-committee hearing last week, Trillanes cited supposed bank accounts and revived his claim that the Duterte family benefited from drug money.

The former president responded then that he was willing to sign a bank waiver to belie Trillanes’ claim in exchange for slapping the former senator in public.

Duterte also grabbed the microphone and gestured that he would throw it in Trillanes’ direction, prompting the House panel to suspend the hearing./PN
