MANILA – Malacañang is unperturbed by information Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV may disclose against President Rodrigo Duterte when the investigation into killings attributed to the drug war reopens.

All the allegations against Duterte are “rehashed things,” according to Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella.

Nadaanan na po natin iyan (We’ve been through all of that),” he said.

Trillanes claimed Duterte had P2 billion in undeclared funds in his bank accounts.

The former Philippine Navy official also accused Duterte’s children and common-law wife of getting involved in corrupt activities.

Trillanes said the arrest of fellow senator and Duterte critic Leila de Lima encouraged him to prove the President’s link to the Davao Death Squad.

“We can see (retired Senior Police Officer 3 Arturo) Lascañas has discredited himself. You know, he has perjured himself,” Abella said, referring to the alleged former death squad leader’s admission that the vigilante group exists.

In October last year, Lascañas denied involvement in the murders committed by the vigilante group. The former officer also called witness Edgar Matobato a “liar” for identifying him as death squad leader.

But in a recent news conference at the Senate, Lascañas flip-flopped and accused Duterte, a former mayor of Davao City, of funding operations to execute crime suspects in his hometown.

“I do not know what Mr. Trillanes is referring to, pero — well, it came that he just — he is being vocal for the sake of being vocal,” Abella said./PN
