MANILA – Malacañang has defended President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. from the tirades he is uttering during the campaign sorties of the administration bets for the 2025 senatorial elections.

According to Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro, what the Chief Executive was stating during the rallies of “Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas” are based on facts.

During his various campaign sorties, Marcos said the administration senatorial bets are not tainted with corruption and are running not for their own interests, but because they want to help the Filipino people.

He added that he is proud to endorse the 12 senatorial hopefuls because they have nothing to do with extrajudicial killings and are against China’s continued harassment in the West Philippine Sea.

The President’s statement, although lacking specific names, clearly served as a pointed critique of former president Rodrigo Duterte, who is under scrutiny due to allegations of crimes against humanity and has faced backlash for his shift in foreign policy towards China./PN
