DAVAO City – Negrense Bernalyn Bejoy clinched her second gold medal in the 2019 Palarong Pambansa athletics at the University of Mindanao oval here. She ruled the secondary girls 400-meter dash.
Bejoy, who earlier won a gold in 100-meter dash, dominated the 400-meter category with 57.61 seconds clocking, beating Charmaine de Ocampo of Region IV-A and Divina Mahusay of Region V.
Negrense June Philip Martinez also added gold to Western Visayas’ medal haul. He ruled the secondary boys shot put.
Ann Katherine Quitoy, on the other hand, got the gold in secondary girls javelin throw.
Jasmin Jamelarin, meanwhile, contributed gold from elementary girls 100-meter hurdles while Joshua Rey Sevilla also showed way in the elementary boys 110-meter hurdles.
Vince Jayson Buhayan, however, was denied a second gold. He settled for a silver in secondary boys 400-meter dash.
Ritchie Estampador and Laurence Rabanes added silver medals, too, in elementary boys triple jump and secondary boys 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Also with silver medals were Armiashane Malicse in elementary girls shot put and Kim Villaran in elementary girls 400-meter dash.
Eduard Jornadal and Lyndon Huelar had bronze in elementary boys 400-meter dash and shot put.
Alexie Cabayaran clinched her second gold medal by topping the elementary girls 100-meter backstroke.
Earl Buncio also added a medal for the Blue Barons with a bronze in secondary boys 50-meter butterfly.
Also with silver medals were Roselle Pearl de Leon in arnis and Angela Bermejo in taekwondo kyorugi event, while gymnast Alyssa Chavez and taekwondo jin Roem Joseph Ayuban contributed bronze medals./PN
