ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas has signed yesterday the vouchers and payrolls for the allowances of players and coaches representing the city to regional and national sports meets.
He, however, said he is still waiting for the other correct vouchers and payrolls without the names of persons not involved in sports activities.
“As soon as these are submitted to us we will immediately approve the same and release the amounts,” he added.
Treñas earlier explained that the delay in the release of the allowances of the Iloilo City delegates was due to the erroneous listing; it included non-athletes and non-coaches.
The sport events include the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet, pre-Palarong Pambansa, and Palarong Pambansa.
Due to the listing errors, the city accounting office returned the documents submitted by the Department of Education (DepEd)-Schools Division of Iloilo City for correction.
“Nadugang ang mga tawo nga indi dapat ara da. I will not mention kon sin-o ang nadala da,” said Treñas earlier.
The city government has allotted more than P20 million from the Special Education Fund (SEF) for the city’s delegation. It will be coursed through the DepEd-Schools Division of Iloilo City for release to the athletes and coaches.
“Ang accounting explained to them ang matabu if ang allowance makadto sa indi dapat makakuha… makasohan pa ang mga tawo ta diri sa city hall,” said Treñas.
Iloilo City has 94 delegates – athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, chaperons, and trainers – to the Palarong Pambansa 2023 in Marikina City from July 29 to Aug. 5./PN
