BACOLOD City – Councilor Ana Marie Palermo is no longer with the Magbinuligay Kita Sa Kauswagan (MKK), a local political group led by former mayor Monico Puentevella.
Palermo leaving MKK meant she is now allied with Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia’s Grupo Progreso (GP), she said.
The lady councilor will seek reelection in next year’s midterm elections. Should she win, it will be her last term as city councilor.
Palermo was the former City Legal Office head under Leonardia’s term as mayor in 1995.
She said being in GP is a “form of gratitude” to Leonardia who supported her in pursuing visions for Bacolod.
Palermo said there are still many programs that need to be done by the city government.
She also thanked MKK for the past years she was a member.
Meanwhile, Leonardia said GP will declare its official candidates in the “most appropriate time.”
MKK, on the other hand, said “nothing is yet final.”
The filing of certificates of candidacy was moved from Oct. 1 to 5 to Oct. 11 to 17./PN
