ANTIQUE – The reconstructed Paliwan bridge in this province was reopened yesterday.
This vital infrastructure connects Lau-an town in the north and Bugasong in the south.
The reopening was led by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 6 assistant director Jose Al V. Fruto, Cong. Antonio “AA” Legarda, Laua-an mayor Aser Baladjay, and Bugasong vice mayor Susan Escote.
According to the DPWH, the 60-meter bridge has a contract amount of P66,436,721.91 from Annual Investment Plan (AIP) FY 2023 of the General Appropriations Act (GAA).
To recall, two spans of the bridge in Barangay Cubay North in Bugasong collapsed at the height of Typhoon “Paeng” in October 2022.
DPWH-6 director Sanny Boy Oropel earlier said the agency constructed three spans, from the previous two spans./PN
