BACOLOD City – Panay News’ Negrense columnist formally took oath as this year’s president of the Negros Press Club (NPC).
Erwin “Ambo” Delilan is the 88th president of the oldest press club in the country and the first-ever NPC president from Panay News.
Delilan took oath before Senator Robin Padilla, Senate’s committee chair on public information and mass media, at the SMX Convention Center in this city on Saturday, April 6.
“As I take my oath as the new president of the Negros Press Club, I cast a promise: To raise the flag of NPC,” he said.
Delilan added: “Such a promise, I knew, is immense. But God knows the desire of my heart for the sake of the club, and to make each and every member of NPC, particularly those in the legacy media, to be relevant still amid the challenging era of digitalization popularized by “just in”, “breaking news” and even fake news,”
On January 20 this year, Delilan was voted as president during the club’s election and general assembly.
The other NPC officers were also inducted and took their oaths before Bacolod City’s Cong. Greg Gasataya. They are Nida Buenafe (Negros Now Daily) as vice president, Lourd John Diaz (Aksyon Radyo) – secretary, Nanette Guadalquiver (Philippine News Agency) – treasurer, Nona Magbanua (Aksyon Radyo) – auditor, and the board of directors – Mae Singuay (Panay News), Yves Montecillo (RMN), Rey Siason (dyRL) and Dolly Yasa (Daily Guardian)./PN
