MANILA – Panay News columnist Julio P. Yap, Jr. harvested first place honors in the print category of the 2019 Ulat SIPAG Awards of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of The Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD), which marked its eighth anniversary at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City on Wednesday.
Aside from the cash prize for capturing the top post under the print category, Yap also received a plaque of appreciation from DOST secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña and PCAARRD acting executive director Reynaldo V. Ebora for his outstanding contribution in the field of print media in support of the DOST-PCAARRD’s R&D Results Utilization banner program.
This is Yap’s second year of winning the top award for the print category.
Yap’s different articles which are being published in Panay News under his column dubbed “Urban Farmer” deal with the various commodities under PCAARRD’s Industry Strategic S&T Program reflect the tapestry of the country’s verdant and vibrant agricultural landscape.
The Ulat SIPAG awards recognize the efforts of private professional media practitioners who popularize science and technology articles in relation to PCAARRD’s Industry Strategic S&T Programs./PN
