ILOILO – As part of its 42nd anniversary, Panay News together with the Daniel G. Fajardo Foundation, Inc. (DGFFI) conducted a medical mission in Barangay Pal-agon, Pavia town on Saturday, March 25.
Nearly 500 residents from barangays Pal-agon and Mali-ao availed themselves of free medical and dental services offered in partnership with Project Buligay of the Iloilo provincial government headed by Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.
Among the services offered were general check-up with free medicines, dental services, circumcision, haircut, and massage.
For the general check-up, 189 individuals were served, circumcision (100), tooth extraction (118), haircut (51), and massage (26). Each beneficiary also received gift packs from Panay News and DGFFI partners.
Dr. Ma. Amy Gallos, president of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA)-Iloilo chapter, also gave a “Healthy Mouth and Healthy Body” talk, emphasizing the importance of oral health.
Raffle prizes and games were also enjoyed by the children and those young at heart.
Daniel Fajardo II, chief operating officer of Panay News Inc., said this is the company’s way of giving back to the community as it celebrates 42 years of being the region’s No. 1 newspaper.
Fajardo said Panay News serves Ilonggos not only by providing reliable information but also through gift-giving activities and medical missions, and also in honor of its founder, Daniel Gumban Fajardo, who started it all.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. graced the activity. His presence was his way of recognizing and thanking the role of Panay News in reaching the entire province of Iloilo.
Defensor said when he took office in 2019 and when the coronavirus pandemic hit, Panay News played a big role in making people understand the programs and projects implemented by his administration.
