Panay News feted in DSWD’s ‘Media Pasasalamat’

ILOILO City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 6 has recognized Panay News as one of the “Most Supportive Media for Print” during its “Media Pasasalamat Awarding” here on April 10.

Regional Director Arwin O. Razo led the award ceremony, presenting a plaque of recognition to Panay News for its “significant contribution to advancing the Social Protection Agenda of the DSWD.

The publication’s efforts in supporting the dissemination of key information about the agency’s programs and services have played a crucial role in improving the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals and families across Western Visayas, according to DSWD.

Panay News’ senior reporter Ime Sornito-Sorial was also honored with a plaque of recognition as a “Social Protection Champion”.

According to DSWD, Sornito-Sorial’s passionate and committed service in disseminating information has contributed significantly to enhancing the lives of the region’s poor and marginalized communities.

Razo said the Media Pasasalamat event serves not only as a platform for updating the public about DSWD’s programs, projects, and future initiatives but also as a means of strengthening partnerships with media. He acknowledged the critical role of media partners in advocating for social protection programs.

“The work of the DSWD is vast, from disaster relief and livelihood programs to cash assistance and services for those in need. You, our media partners, are crucial in reaching more people and conveying the importance of these programs. Every news story, every feature, provides not just knowledge but clarity that helps improve the implementation of our services,” Razo said.

He further noted that this partnership is a shared commitment to serving the most vulnerable sectors of society.

“Today, we want to take this opportunity to thank you for being more than just messengers of information, but for being our social protection champions. On behalf of DSWD, I would like to express our gratitude for your continued support and dedication in spreading the agency’s programs.
