Pandan mayor orders border control in 34 barangays

PANDAN, Antique – Mayor Plaridel Sanchez VI ordered border controls in 34 barangays to restrict people’s movement.

The goal, he said, is to curb the transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

COVID-19 infections in Pandan are rising.

Sanchez also prohibited mass gatherings and reminded people to observe the minimum health protocols – wearing of facemask and face shield when out in public, observing physical distancing and proper washing of hands.

“COVID-19 cases have now become very alarming,” stressed Sanchez in Executive Order (EO) No. 28 mandating barangay border restrictions.

As of Wednesday, June 9, Pandan’s cumulative COVID cases hit 41.

Border check points within the barangay shall not allow their constituents or visitors to travel in and out of their area except for reasons of work, medical concerns and availment or delivery of basic necessities such as provisions for food, shelter and clothing.

Public transportation shall not be allowed entry if not compliant to safety protocols. Contact tracing mechanisms such as logging in to a contact tracing form or a log book is a must for non-residents.

The barangay must only have one entry and one exit point.

No wedding or birthday parties or any similar activities shall be allowed.

Barangay officials and tanods are deputized to apprehend violators of health protocols.

Barangay officials found tolerating violations of health protocols shall be reprimanded and be subjected to disciplinary action.

Tourism activities and establishments are temporarily closed.

Accommodations to hotels and resorts may be allowed but only for Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR).

Travel pass may be issued by the mayor’s office for those travelling to places outside the municipality which requires the same, provided that the purpose of travel is essential and a certification of non-quarantine is presented from the barangay of residence.

For the travel pass of residents of seven hinterland barangays, the barangay captains are authorized to issue a travel pass good for one day only./PN
