PANDAN, Antique – This municipality recorded its fourth casualty due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) – a 96-year-old female resident of Barangay Patria.
According to Mayor Plaridel Sanchez VI, this woman was also Pandan’s 33rd case of COVID-19.
The woman was initially admitted at the Justice Calixto O. Zaldivar Memorial Hospital (JCOZMH) for not feeling well. There on May 31, she was subjected to reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test (RT-PCR).
The woman died afterwards that day without knowing her test result which was released a day after (June 1).
Sanchez ordered the Municipal Health Office to do contact tracing primarily focused on family members and friends of the woman.
He reminded the people of Pandan to follow minimum health standards:
* wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
* maintain physical distancing of at least one to two meters;
* wear facemask at all times in public
* avoid crowded places or unessential travel
As of June 1, Pandan had six active COVID-19 cases, data from the Antique Provincial Health Office showed./PN
