Pangasinan gives Antique P500K ‘Paeng’ aid

ANTIQUE – The provincial government of Pangasinan gave P500,000 in aid to victims of Severe Tropical Storm “Paeng” in this province.

Retired Colonel Rhodyn Luchivar Oro of the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, on behalf of Gov. Ramon V. Guico III, personally handed the check to Gov. Rhodora J. Cadiao on Thursday.

Oro said Pangasinan has been extending monetary aid to provinces affected by disasters.

Yun yung reason kung bakit kami nandito, to extend yung tulong ng province of Pangasinan and our Gov. Ramon V. Guico III,” said Oro.

“Paeng” hit the region in October 2022 and left P199,808,599.93 worth of agriculture damage in Antique, affecting 5,773 farmers.

Golden rice, or Malusog rice, is a new hybrid introduced in Antique to address malnutrition among children. It is infused with Vitamin A.

Also present during the turnover were Antique Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Broderick Train and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Lazaro Petinglay. (With a report from Hannieh Nonesco, Province of Antique)./PN
