MANILA – Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo is definitely not going back to China if ever she decideds to move out of her current location in Indonesia.
According to Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) spokesperson Winston Casio, Guo is likely to transfer to either Laos, Thailand, or Myanmar, or the so-called Golden Triangle.
“She will definitely not go to China, she is already a person of interest as far as China is concerned because she’s accused of a serious crime in the Philippines in relation to illegal gambling,” Castelo said.
“We know how strict China is in relation to gambling in their own territories, so definitely she will not come to any of those territories,” he added. “We are confident that she is trying to get into the Golden Triangle.”
According to Casio, the Guo family has business interests in the Golden Triangle region in mainland Southeast Asia, located on the intersecting borders of the Mekong River.
“The Guo family has business interest, gambling interest in Cambodia. They are part of a big criminal organization, ‘yung Fujian Gang kung saan kabilang ang mga Guo ay kabahagi ng Golden Triangle triad,” Casio said.
“Medyo mahihirapan tayo hulihin siya kapag nakarating siya sa Golden Triangle, may giyera doon eh,” Casio said, referring to the ongoing civil war in Myanmar.
“So, the Golden Triangle, those countries are very porous in boundaries as I imagined and we know what the Golden Triangle entails when we talk about transnational organized crime,” Casio said.
The Office of the Ombudsman recently dismissed the controversial mayor from service for grave misconduct with forfeiture of all her retirement benefits as well as perpetual disqualification from public office.
According to the Ombudsman, Guo “remained to be the real, true, and actual President of Baofu” and stood to benefit from the continued operations of the raided POGO hub in her locality.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) also filed a tax evasion complaint against Guo as she failed to pay P500,000 in taxes for her alleged sale of her shares in the Baofu Corporation.
Guo is also facing a human trafficking complaint in relation to the raided POGO hub before the Department of Justice, while a petition seeking to remove Guo from office was also filed before a Manila court./PN
