ILOILO City – The Paraw Regatta Festival 2024 will again showcase the best lechon of Arevalo district.
John Lex Bayombong, chairperson of the Paraw Regatta Festival, said this year’s lechon contest is slated on March 3 alongside the main sailing event.
Bayombong said they are looking at 10 to 15 establishments to participate and showcase their lechon product.
The lechons will be judged based on taste (delectability) and presentation.
“We will be inviting some of our local Ilonggo chefs to do the judging,” he said.
The festival’s chairperson added that the public will get to taste the lechons for free after the judging.
This year’s edition of the Paraw Regatta Festival – touted as the oldest and largest traditional craft event in Asia – will officially kick off on Feb. 25 with a solemn mass at the Arevalo Parish.
Dr. Robert Somosa, Paraw Sailing Events chair, said they are targeting about 50 paraw racers in the main sailing event on March 3./PN
