BACOLOD City – “Activism is not a crime, but supporting terrorism is a crime.”
This was Philippine Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade commander Brigadier General Benedict Arevalo’s stark reminder to parents and students in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
Arevalo was the guest of honor and speaker during the Reserve Officer Training Corps Presentation of the Colegio de Sta Ana de Victorias on Saturday.
He urged both the students and their parents to be wary of student organizations which he believed to have been infiltrated by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).
“Our government respects the right to academic freedom, however a student joining the NPA or supporting terrorist organizations is illegal and a crime,” Arevalo stressed.
Arevalo also showed a short animated video entitled “Pindoy”, exposing the modus of the in deceiving and misleading the youth to join the CPP-NPA./PN
