BACOLOD CityParishioners of the Diocese of San Carlos formed a “human chain” along the roads as part of the initiatives in pushing a “coal-free” Negros Island.

“We want Negros to be coal-free and a renewable energy hub,” said Bishop Gerardo Alminaza on Monday.

Participants lined up with arms linked together by the roadside from La Libertad, Negros Oriental to Manapla in Negros Occidental.

“Easter is about sharing the power of hope and love and celebrating the joy of discovering there’s strength in collective action,” Alminaza said.

The church-led campaign started in October last year is also in observance of the Earth Day celebration. (With a report from PNA/PN)
